How it works

How we keep your money safe — in plain language

Security shouldn't require a computer science degree to understand. Here's exactly what protects your Pady account, and the three things only you can do.

"Is my money safe?" is the most important question anyone can ask a financial app, and it deserves a straight answer — not a wall of jargon. Here's what actually protects your Pady account, in plain language, and the part of the job that only you can do.

What we do, layer by layer

Every transaction is encrypted in transit and at rest — the same standard your bank uses. Your card details are tokenized, which means even our own systems never store your actual card number; a breach of the card store would yield useless tokens, not spendable numbers. Access to your account requires your device, your PIN, and for sensitive actions, a one-time code — three separate things an attacker would need simultaneously.

Behind the scenes, every transaction passes through real-time risk checks. A new device, an odd location, a transfer pattern that doesn't look like you, a sudden large withdrawal at 3am — these trigger automatic holds and verification before money moves. Most customers never notice these systems, which is exactly the point: good security is quiet.

Where your deposits actually sit

Your money doesn't sit in a startup's operating account. Deposits are held with regulated banking partners under their own capital, liquidity and supervision requirements. Pady builds the experience on top; the underlying funds live inside the regulated perimeter. That separation is deliberate, and it's the first question you should ask any financial app.

What only you can do

Three things. First, never share your OTP or PIN — no Pady staff member will ever ask for them, and anyone who does is a fraudster, full stop. This single rule defeats the majority of account takeovers we see attempted, because most fraud isn't hacking; it's persuasion.

Second, use a PIN that isn't your birthday, your phone number's last digits, or 1234 — the combinations fraudsters try first. Third, turn on transaction notifications and actually read them. The fastest fraud catch in the world is a customer who spots a ₦4,500 debit they didn't make within a minute of it happening.

The scams we're seeing right now

The most common playbook: a call or WhatsApp message claiming to be from "Pady support" or "your bank's fraud team," warning that your account is at risk and asking you to "verify" with a code. The code is the keys to your account. Real support never asks for it. The second playbook is fake investment groups promising weekly returns and showing doctored Pady screenshots — if returns sound guaranteed, the guarantee is the scam.

If something goes wrong

Freeze your card instantly from the app — it takes two taps and works at 3am. Then reach support through the in-app channel, which is verified and secure; never through a number someone texts you. Most disputes resolve faster when they're reported within hours rather than days, so act first and ask questions second. If you've shared a code with someone, tell us immediately — speed genuinely changes outcomes.

Security is a partnership: we build the walls, you hold the keys. Keep the keys private, and the system does its job.
