PND explained: what Post No Debit means and how to resolve it
PND stands for Post No Debit. It is a restriction a bank or the courts can place on an account that lets money come in but blocks money from going out. If you've tried to send from your Pady account and seen a message like "debit restricted" or "PND active", this guide walks you through exactly what it means, why it happens, and how to clear it — usually within 24 to 72 hours.
- 1
Understand what a PND actually does
A PND freezes outbound transactions only. Salary, refunds and transfers into your account still land normally, and you can still view your balance. What you can't do is send money out, spend on your card, pay bills or withdraw at an ATM until the restriction is lifted.
- 2
Find out why the PND was placed
Open the Pady app, tap Profile → Account status. The reason sits at the top: EFCC/court order, fraud investigation, chargeback dispute, expired KYC, or a regulator-directed freeze. If the reason is 'KYC expired' or 'Tier upgrade required', you can fix it yourself in the app. Anything else needs support.
- 3
Fix KYC-related PNDs yourself
Most PNDs on Pady are KYC-related. Go to Settings → Verification → Upgrade tier, re-submit a valid government ID and a fresh selfie, and confirm your address. Restrictions are usually lifted within 30 minutes of a successful re-verification.
- 4
Respond to a dispute or chargeback PND
If the PND is tied to a specific inbound transfer that's under dispute, tap the flagged transaction and choose Respond to dispute. Upload proof (invoice, chat screenshots, delivery confirmation). Once the counter-party's bank clears the claim, the restriction lifts automatically.
- 5
Contact Pady support for regulator or court PNDs
Email support@padymoney.com from the address linked to your account, with the subject 'PND lift request — [your account number]'. Attach your ID and, if you have it, the reference number from the letter or court order. Our compliance team responds within 24 hours on business days.
- 6
Confirm the account is fully unrestricted
Once support notifies you, do a small test transfer of ₦100 to yourself or a trusted contact. If it goes through, the PND is fully cleared. If it still fails, reply to the same support thread — do not open a new ticket, it slows things down.
- Keep your BVN, NIN and ID details identical across Pady and your other banks. Mismatches are the single biggest cause of preventable PNDs.
- Never pay anyone who promises to 'lift a PND for a fee' — that's a scam. Legitimate PND lifts are always free and always go through your bank or the requesting authority.
- If your account was restricted because of an inbound transfer from an unknown sender, do not spend the money. Report it in-app and let support reverse it — spending flagged funds can extend the PND.
Frequently asked
How long does a PND last?
KYC-related PNDs lift within 30 minutes of re-verification. Dispute-related ones clear in 24 to 72 hours. Regulator or court-ordered PNDs last until the requesting authority formally releases the account — Pady cannot lift these unilaterally.
Can I still receive money on a PND account?
Yes. Inbound transfers, salary and refunds all land normally. Only outbound transactions are blocked.
Will a PND affect my credit or savings goals?
No. Your locked Goals keep earning interest and your credit history isn't affected. Auto-debits into Goals pause until the PND is lifted, then resume on the next scheduled date.
What if the PND was a mistake?
Email support@padymoney.com with the details. If our review confirms it was placed in error, we lift it immediately and, where applicable, refund any fees you incurred trying to transact during the block.
